HM The King plea for harmony on his 80th birthday

Plea for harmony

The following is His Majesty's speech thanking high-ranking well-wishers during His Majesty's rare public audience at the Chakri Maha Prasat Throne Hall yesterday.

"I am very much delighted and appreciative that you have all gathered here to wish me a happy birthday and I thank you for your good wishes filled with good intentions and kindness. I wish you all likewise and please accept my wishes and kind thoughts too.

"The nation will be stable and peaceful through unity if key institutions and different groups recognise their duties and responsibilities and endeavour to carry them out in harmony. That everyone clearly recognises these and carries them out without any disagreement can be regarded as a form of unity.

"If everyone sets their mind to maintaining unity, happiness and contentment will fall to people as individuals and collectively. With this, our national stability will be maintained and developed.

May the power of the Triple Gems and holy spirits protect you all from suffering, danger and make you happy, always."
